Press Release - Sgt. Padama Graduates SBSLI

The Corcoran Police Department is proud to announce Sergeant Gabriel Padama graduated from the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SBSLI) on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 in Folsom, California. The Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SBSLI) is a program designed by the Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) to stimulate personal growth, leadership, and ethical decision-making in California law enforcement front-line supervisors. Designed and implemented in 1988 through the efforts of California law enforcement professionals and top educators and trainers, the SBSLI is an intense eight month program based on experiential learning techniques. Students are challenged to learn new ways to resolve issues through group and individual work. The curriculum takes students through an analysis of management (planning, organizing, directing, etc.) and leadership (inspiring, challenging, developing, etc.) and how each discipline compliments the other. The course progresses from self-evaluation, to interpersonal evaluation, to organizational relationships.

Class 424 graduated 22 students from law enforcement agencies across California including Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles Police Department, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, San Diego Police Department, Bakersfield Police Department, Glendale Police Department, Pleasanton Police Department, San Jose Police Department, Culver City Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Riverside Police Department, Santa Barbara Police Department, Corona Police Department, Santa Ana Police Department, San Mateo Sheriff’s Department, Fremont Police Department, Hayward Police Department, Newport Beach Police Department and Santa Rosa Police Department.

Sergeant Gabriel Padama began his career with Corcoran Police Department in November 2007, and has served in a variety of assignments including Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Narcotics Investigator and Recruit Training Officer. He was promoted to Corporal in March 2014 and to Sergeant in July 2015. During Sgt. Padama’s time with the Corcoran Police Department he has completed 1,100 hours of P.O.S.T. certified advanced officer training. Sgt. Padama’s vast experience, training, dedication and loyalty contribute to him being a valuable member of the Corcoran Police Department’s leadership team.

Please join me in congratulating Sergeant Gabriel Padama for his accomplishment and desire to continue his education and leadership development in service to our staff and our community.
