Single Vehicle Roll Over

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on May 2,2019 at approximately 0121 hrs, deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a personal injury crash on M-40 near the intersection of Brody Rd. in Marcellus Township. 21 year old, Timothy James Walters of Decatur, MI was traveling northbound on M-40 when another vehicle nearly had a collision with them and Walters drove off the roadway, overturning multiple times. Walters was treated at the scene for minor injuries by Marcellus Ambulance and released. Walters was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Walters passenger, Michael Leroy Payne, 22 year old Lawton resident, was transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo by Marcellus Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries. Payne was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. Assisting at the scene were the Marcellus Fire Department and Marcellus Ambulance.
