For Immediate Release
Recently a city councilman contacted the Service Safety Director over concerns about a section of Lisbon St (St. Rt. 267) within the city and provided some pictures of some undermining that had occurred there. This section of the roadway is located near the top of the hill. The SSD immediately contacted ODOT’s geologists for the region and developed a plan to stabilize the area for immediate use by the general public. ODOT has performed core drilling on that particular section of road and were aware of the issue. This work is expected to take less than two weeks and will result in traffic being reduced to just one lane for this time period beginning today 5/1/19. We are asking residents to use caution in the meantime and have been assured by local engineers that the area is not in danger of immediate collapse. The section of roadway that is in question was scheduled for routine repair by the Ohio Department of Transportation in year 2021 however they are working to see if it possible to expedite that process. The temporary fix is expected to last until ODOT can perform the permanent fix and will be closely monitored by city employees until then.
