A transient is arrested after assaulting two Cal-Fire firefighters and a deputy sheriff

SUSPECT: Nathan Salgado, 20 years old, Transient
VICTIM(S): Two Cal-Fire firefighter and one San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriff
SUMMARY:
On April 30, 2019, at 5:36 pm, Yucaipa firefighters responded to Center Park, sometimes called 1st St. Park, for a subject who was drunk and possibly high on drugs. The subject was later identified as Nathan Salgado.
When firefighters contacted Salgado, he yelled at them, became assaultive and attempted to tackle several firefighters. Firefighters were forced to physically restrain Salgado. When deputies arrived, Salgado was taken into custody without incident and was transported to Redlands Community Hospital for treatment and evaluation. There, Salgado assaulted and attempted to tackle the arresting deputy and the two briefly struggled before the deputy controlled Salgado.
After receiving medical treatment, Salgado was booked at Central Detention Center on felony charges of assaulting the firefighters and the deputy. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
