On 04/27/19 at 9:04 PM, Escondido Police and Escondido Fire responded to a vehicle collision at Centre City Parkway and Highway 78. Upon arrival, units discovered a vehicle versus pedestrian collision had occurred.
Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, a 2008 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Centre City Parkway driven by a 40-year-old male. The vehicle was just about to enter the freeway when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway. Escondido Fire Paramedics arrived and attempted life-saving measures on the 36-year-old male, although he died at the scene.
The traffic investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Officer Nick Kluka of the Traffic Division. Witnesses are encouraged to call Officer Kluka at the above phone number.
