There will be a fireworks show at the conclusion of tonight's Stanford Baseball game. There's no need to call 9-1-1. Please spread the word to your neighbors (and be sure to give your pets a heads up too). Our 24-hour dispatch center routinely gets flooded with 9-1-1 calls during fireworks shows, both with people concerned that it's artillery (it's not; just fireworks!) or people who want to file a noise complaint about them (the Palo Alto Municipal Code noise ordinances do not apply to Stanford University, as it is a separate jurisdiction). We're just trying to do our part to head off those 9-1-1 calls so we can keep the lines for free for actual emergencies, and to let you know so you can be sure to give your pets some extra love and reassurance.
