Man Arrested for Recording Co-Workers in Bathroom
Suffolk County Police today arrested a Rocky Point man for placing a video recording device in the employee bathroom of a Ronkonkoma business earlier this year.
A female employee of Trinity Solar, located at 2180 5th Ave #1, discovered a device plugged into the electrical outlet in the women’s bathroom. The device appeared to be a cell phone charger. Upon further inspection, other employees realized it was a recording device.
Following an investigation, Fifth Squad detectives determined the device was placed in the bathroom by Michael Evans, who was employed at the business at the time. A Search Warrant was executed earlier today at Evans home, located at 19 Valkyr Road, where he was arrested at approximately 4:50 p.m.
Evans recorded the victims between March 7 and March 14. Evans left the company on April 1.
Evans, 32, was charged with 12 counts of Unlawful Surveillance 2nd Degree. He will be held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on April 27.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
