Detectives arrest Alex Chavez of Hesperia for Indecent Exposure and Annoying or Molesting Child under 18 years of age

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, April 23, 2019, Sheriff Detectives from Hesperia Station, in conjunction with the Hesperia School District Police Department conducted extra patrol efforts at the Hesperia Schools and bus stops regarding an unknown suspect who had been exposing himself to children leaving school. The unknown suspect was described as either a white or Hispanic male with a beard, driving a small silver vehicle. The suspect lured children to his vehicle and exposed his genitals.
At about 3:30 p.m., Detectives spotted the suspect driving in the area of Mesquite Trails Elementary and Cedar Middle Schools and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Alex Chavez, matched the suspect description. Through investigation, Chavez was identified as the suspect in several incidents where he lured young children to his vehicle and exposed himself. Chavez was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center and was cite released with a pending court date.
Detectives believe there may be additional victims and are releasing a photo of Chavez.
