The 24th Annual Summer Youth Job Fair will be held at Century High School in Santa Ana this Weekend

Santa Ana - Summer vacations will soon be here and so is the opportunity for youth to look at securing that perfect summer job. Job seekers between the ages 15 to 25 and employers who are interested in hiring youth can connect at the 24th Annual Summer Youth Job Fair on Saturday, April 27, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Century High School in Santa Ana.

Century High School is located at 1401 South Grand Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705, which is centrally located off the 55 freeway. The event will be held outdoors in the Quad area. Both the event and parking is free.

The Summer Youth Job Fair is a tool for job search success – whether job seekers use this opportunity to find full- or part-time jobs, internships, or to research careers. In preparation of the job fair, job seekers are encouraged to dress in appropriate business attire, bring copies of their résumé, and have the necessary information to complete work applications.

Employers scheduled to participate in the Summer Youth Job Fair include: Amazon, Boomers, Disney Resort, Great Wolf Lodge, Knott’s Berry Farm, Walmart, City of Santa Ana’s Park and Recreation and the City of Santa Ana Police Department.

The job fair typically hosts 50+ employers and resources. “Participating in the Summer Youth Job Fair is a simple way for job seekers to find a job and gain valuable work experience and develop work-related skills,” stated Rob Claudio, Deputy Division Chief at Employment Development Department Workforce Services in Orange County.

EDD Job Fair Tips:
• Recruiters use job fairs as a way to pre-screen applicants to see how the applicant will fit into their organization.
• When speaking with recruiters, job seekers should ask thoughtful questions about the company; and when responding to a recruiter’s question, keep responses brief.
• Keep in mind, the most successful candidates follow the recruiter’s instructions – the recruiter’s requests, such as applying online for the company’s positions, may be part of their hiring process.
Job seekers can register for the event at https://syjf-2019.eventbrite.com. For event information, employers and job seekers can call: 714-565-2665.

The job fair is hosted by the State of California, Employment Development Department (EDD) Workforce Services Branch offices throughout Orange County in partnership with Santa Ana WORK Center, Anaheim Workforce Connection, Orange County One-Stop Centers – Garden Grove and Irvine, and the Santa Ana Unified School District.

The Summer Youth Job Fair is sponsored by the Orange County Employer Advisory Council (OCEAC). The Orange County Employer Advisory Council represents a cross section of business and industry; and develops a stronger partnership between the California Employment Development Department (EDD) and its local business community.
