April 12th, 2019:

Public Intoxication - BART Path / Fairmount Ave.:
At 4:57 pm, an officer contacted a 62-year-old male after he was reported as being passed out on the Ohlone Greenway. He was found to be intoxicated and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Spousal Battery – 6200 Block of Cypress Avenue:
Several officers responded to a call of a domestic battery which occurred in a home. Officers investigated and found that a woman had battered her boyfriend causing a visible injury to him. The suspect was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Trespassing and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 7501 Schmidt Lane (El Cerrito Recycling Center):
Officers responded to the report of someone who climbed over the fence into the recycling center after business hours. Officers located a man who had come into the recycling center to take items from the recycling bins. When he was searched, a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine was located. The man was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and released.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Avenue / Madison Avenue:
An officer pulled over a car for a vehicle code violation and found the driver was intoxicated. He was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and released to a sober friend with a citation.

April 13th:

Vandalism - 10012 San Pablo Ave:
At 8:39 am, an officer responded to Pic-n-Pac Liquors on the report of vandalism. An unknown suspect smashed a window as he walked by.

Felon in possession of a firearm and a Controlled Substance – San Pablo Avenue / Tehama Avenue:
An officer pulled over a car for a vehicle code violation. The officer’s canine partner was used to sniff around the vehicle to see if it contained narcotics. The dog alerted, indicating drugs were inside the car. Officers found crack cocaine and a loaded firearm inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

April 15th

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave and Eureka Ave:
An officer reports the arrest of a 20-year-old male from San Pablo after the male was seen by witnesses swerving and bumping into curbs. The man participated in a series field sobriety tests and it was determined he was driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked and released to a family member.

Hit and Run – 3000 block of Edna St:
An officer reports the detention of a male juvenile from Richmond after he was involved in a collision and fled the scene. The juvenile was transported to the police department where he was released to his father.

Defrauding an Inn Keeper – 11100 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 6:37 pm, an officer reports that a 27-year-old woman was placed under citizen’s arrest by a business owner after the woman failed to pay for services she received. The woman was issued a citation and released at the scene.

Shoplifting – 10700 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 8:52 pm, an officer reports that a 40-year-old woman was placed under citizen’s arrest by store security for shoplifting. The woman was issued a citation and released at the scene.

April 16th

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – S. 56th St / Carlos Ave:
At 7:57 pm, an officer located a Chevy Tahoe which had been reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department the day prior. The owner met with the officer and took possession of their vehicle.

Auto Burglary – Yosemite Ave / Central Ave:
At 8:14 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke a window to the victim’s vehicle and removed a duffel bag containing shoes and electronics.

DUI – Arlington Blvd / Potrero Ave:
At 9:11 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 24-year-old man who was determined to have been driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was later released from the El Cerrito Police Department with a citation.

Prohibited Weapon – San Pablo Ave / Macdonald Ave:
At 12:53 am, an officer reports the arrest of a 35-year-old man who was in possession of an illegal knife during a traffic stop. The man was issued a citation and released at the scene.

April 17th

Commercial Burglary – 10000 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 9:06 am, an officer reports an unknown subject shattered a window to a business and then made entry. Once inside, the subject scaled the bandit barrier and accessed the rear of the business. The subject then pried open a safe and took $3,000 in cash before fleeing out the back door.

Warrant Arrest and Elder Abuse – 800 block of Park Way:
At 8:45 am, officers were dispatched to a civil standby at a residence. While at the residence, an officer recognized one of the subjects as a wanted person. The 58-year-old male was wanted for taking money from an elderly woman under false pretenses. The male was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Check Fraud – 300 block of Ashbury Ave:
At 6:53 pm, an officer reports an unknown subject used the victim’s bank account information to create several fictitious checks which were cashed in several nearby cities.

April 18th

Theft from Automobile – 7200 block of Blake St:
At 8:06 pm, an officer reports the victim confronted an unknown suspect who had entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle. The victim asked the suspect to leave and later found that several items were missing from the vehicle.
