Wilmington Police identify, arrest man who broke into vehicle and stole items

Wilmington Police have arrested and charged a 49-year-old man responsible for breaking into a vehicle and stealing items.

On April 22, police were called to the 2400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue to investigate a vehicle that had been broken into, and items that had been stolen. After that initial response, patrol followed up and were able to develop 49-year-old Jaime Texidor as a suspect. Arrest warrants were obtained, and on April 24, members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division located Texidor and took him into custody without incident. Police recovered pliers and other burglary tools from a bag in his possession.

Texidor was interviewed by the Criminal Investigations Division, and has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Burglary (Third Degree)
  • Theft Under $1,500 (Two Counts)
  • Criminal Mischief

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and released on $5,500 unsecured bail.

Lieutenant Matthew Hall, a watch commander in the Uniformed Services Division, commended the diligence of patrol officers in pursuing leads in this case and being mindful of similar calls for service in the area.

“Patrol did an excellent job and demonstrated relentless follow-up, sharing information with other officers in order to obtain warrants and quickly apprehend this suspect,” said Lt. Hall. “On a daily basis, our officers are communicating with one another and sharing intelligence to help apprehend suspects in cases that affect quality of life in each of our neighborhoods.”

The Wilmington Police Department reminds the public to keep vehicles secured when unoccupied, to remove valuables from plain sight, and to report any suspicious activity to police as soon as possible.
