Sgt. Jamie Stalcup will take over as Officer in Charge

Sgt. Jamie Stalcup has been named by the police board as the Officer in Charge for the Southwestern Regional Police Department.  The position is effective on May 16, 2019 when Chief Greg Bean leaves his position for another employment opportunity.
Sgt. Stalcup was raised in Maryland and moved to the Hanover as a young person; where he still resides today with his wife and child.  He has been with our department since the inception of the department in 2002. He was with the Heidelberg Twp. Police before that agency was blended into the regional department.  Prior to that he began his career with the Northern York County Police Department.  He served as an integral part in the building and development of our regional department - which was not an easy task.
Chief Bean recommended Sgt. Stalcup for the position.  He has always been one of our “go to” persons when officers or others in the community had a question or needs.  That is the ultimate compliment coming from your peers.  He is always willing to listen and to understand any concern that comes his way.  He is very knowledgeable on police matters.
Some of Jamie’s experiences and duties include:

  • He was a Field Training Officer who trained the new officers for the department.  He is also the department’s defensive tactics instructor and has a high level of training in the Martial Arts.
  • Several years with the York County Quick Response Team (QRT) as a negotiator
  • Trained expert for business security audits by the US Department of Homeland Security
  • For 12 years, while Sgt. Stalcup worked for the department, he also doubled as a police counselor with the River Rock Academy in Spring Grove.  The program is an alternate education facility and he assisted with Behavioral support issues.
  • Graduate of the Northwestern University Police Executive Management Program; an extensive program for police managers
Sgt. Stalcup has spent many years preparing for this position.  He will excel in his new duties and we look forward to his leadership for the residents and the officers.
