The Frankfort Police Department continues to remind residents to lock their vehicle doors and to never leave keys or key fobs inside of their car. We also recommend not leave garage door openers in your unsecured vehicles. If a vehicle is left unlocked and the garage door opener is inside of the vehicle the offenders can now gain access to the garage.  Burglaries to motor vehicles are still being reported in Frankfort and several other areas throughout the Chicagoland suburbs.  In some cases stolen vehicles have also been reported.    The Frankfort Police Department continues to provide extra patrols of subdivisions in an effort to deter and detect criminal activity.  We ask all our residents to remain vigilant in locking their vehicles and reminding neighbors to do the same.  And remember- if you “See or Hear Something, Say Something”.  In almost all cases the cars being broken into are unlocked in all incidents. It takes our entire community to work together to make us safer!
 
This week is Illinois Distracted Driving Awareness week. The Village of Frankfort is hosting an open house tour of its facilities.  The Open House will be held on Wednesday, May 22^nd from 5-7 p.m.  Community members can tour the Village Administration Building, the Frankfort Police Department, the Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, Standpipe, and the Utilities/Public Works Facility.  All are welcome, we hope to see you there!
 
Lock your car and remember to close your garage doors, don’t make Frankfort a target!
