Duarte Crime Blotter for the Week of April 7 - April 13, 2019

Dear Duarte Community:

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of April 07 thru April 13, 2019.      
 
April 07, 2019

  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1515 Huntington Drive (The Rancho Inn).  During a check out inspection of a room, the manager noticed the 32 inch television missing from the wall.  The room was rented for one night, however, no one was seen taking the television.  The loss was estimated at $200.  The investigation is on-going. 
 
  • A Vandalism was reported at 1525 Huntington Drive (The Village Restaurant).  Sometime between 2:00 pm on April 6th and 10:00 am on April 7th, person’s unknown shattered four windows to the restaurant.  The damage was estimated at approximately $2,000.
 
April 08, 2019
  • A Grand Theft Vehicle was reported in the 2100 block of Huntington Drive.  Sometime between 5:30 pm on April 7th, and 9:00 am on the 8th, person’s unknown stole a 2003 Dodge Ram from the street.  The vehicle was recovered on April 12th by San Fernando P.D.    
 
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target).  An adult male was observed concealing approximately $115 worth of nicotine gum and eye liner, then exiting without paying.  Once outside, the suspect ran northbound through the parking lot and out of view.
 
  • Narcotics Arrest:  At approximately 9:20 pm, deputies contacted an adult female at Huntington Drive and Las Lomas Road who appeared distraught and looking frantically through a back pack.  During the contact, deputies discovered the female had an outstanding warrant and arrested her.  Incident to the arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, narcotic paraphernalia and pepper spray.  The suspect was additionally charged with the narcotic violations, and due to the fact she was a convicted felon, she was additionally charged with being a felon in possession of pepper spray.
 
April 09, 2019
  • No significant activity. 
            
April 10, 2019
  • A Grand Theft and Petty Theft were reported in the 2500 block of Markwood Street.  Sometime between 9:00 pm on April 9th and 7:00 am on the 10th, person’s unknown stole a laptop, Apple I-Pod and a briefcase from one victim’s vehicle and $120 and a credit card from another victim’s vehicle parked in the same driveway.  The loss of the electronic equipment was estimated at $1,400.
 
April 11, 2019
  • A Petty Theft was reported in the 1800 block of Warrington Avenue.  A delivered package containing mosaic tile was stolen from the front porch.  The loss was estimated at approximately $100.
 
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 2155 Huntington Drive (Armando’s Pet Grooming).  At 12:15 pm, two females approximately 18 years old, were observed browsing the pet birds.  After several minutes, the employee saw the two females running out of the store.  As he walked through the pet bird display, he noticed a “Green- Cheek Conure” bird was missing from the cage.  After reviewing the surveillance video, one of the females was seen acting as a look-out, while the other took the bird.  The bird had a value at $400.  
 
  • A Grand Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target).  Three adult females and on adult male entered the store and concealed over $4,100 worth of ink cartridges in tote bags.  An employee approached them as they were exiting without paying, however, the suspects fled towards the parking lot and entered a white sedan.  The sedan was occupied by two additional suspects, and the vehicle was last seen heading westbound Huntington Drive.         
 
April 12, 2019
  • A Commercial Burglary occurred at 1235 Buena Vista Street (Dr. Hernandez’s Optometry).  At 2:20 am, three suspects were seen exiting a white sedan and looking through the window with flashlights.  The suspects then left, and returned at approximately 4:00 am.  The suspects shattered the front glass window and made entry into the into the lobby area.  Once inside, they ransacked the lobby, stealing an unknown amount of glasses.  The investigation is on-going.   
 
April 13, 2019
  • Petty Theft Arrest:  A Female adult from Hacienda Heights was detained by security, after she was observed taking approximately $90 in snacks from a Starbucks located inside the lobby.  The female admitted to responding deputies that she stole the items because the Starbucks was closed and she was hungry.  The female was arrested and booked for petty theft.
