IMPD Downtown Narcotics Detectives continue to take guns and drugs off the streets of Indianapolis

INCIDENT TYPE: Narcotics Arrests

INCIDENT LOCATIONS: 3058 N Stuart St. / 2383 Beckwith Dr. / 635 N Oakland Ave. 

INDIANAPOLIS – In a continuing effort to address narcotic usage/overdoses/dealing within the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Downtown District. Detectives obtained information on drug dealers operating outside of the Wheelers Mission-specifically in the Wabash Street area.  Developing the information, narcotic detectives/officers learned dealers were praying upon those in the homeless community, supplying Heroin, Crack/Cocaine and Synthetic Marijuana. 
As a result the Downtown District Narcotics Unit teamed up with the North District Narcotics Unit, our Criminal Interdiction Unit and the ATF to conduct  search warrants which led to the recovery of guns.narcotics and the arrests of nine individuals. 

On Thursday April 11,2019 IMPD Swat Officers executed a Narcotics Search Warrant at 3058 N Stuart Street.  During a search of the residence, detectives seized 200 grams of Heroin, 50 grams of Crack/Cocaine, 30 grams of Marijuana, $59.050.00 cash, controlled pills, a pill press and electronic scales.  55-year-old Robert Andrews was arretsed  for felony level Dealing/Possession of a Controlled Substance, Dealing/Possession of Crack/Cocaine and Possession of Marijuana.

Also on Thursday, April 11, 2019 Swat Officers from the Indiana State Police executed a Narcotics Search Warrant at 2383 Beckwith Drive.  Once inside, ISP Officers detained two subjects without incident. Detectives conducted a search of the apartment seizing: 1 pound of Synthetic Marijuana, 1/2 pound of Marijuana, 3 loaded handguns, a bullet proof vest, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia and $240.00 cash.  34-year-old Brandon Jones was arrested for Dealing/Possession of Marijuana, Dealing/Possession of Synthetic Marijuana and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.  Also arrested in the apartment, 28-year-old Marvell Townsend, for Visiting a Common Nuisance.

Same day, Thursday, April 11, 2019 IMPD Swat Officers executed a Search Warrant at 635 N Oakland Ave, detaining 6 subjects without incident.  During a search of the residence, narcotic detectives seized approximately 10 grams of Heroin, Controlled Pills, ammunition, and miscellaneous paraphernalia.  47-year-old Pamela Lind was arrested for Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Possession of Paraphernalia; 74-year-old Samuel Young  was arrested for Dealing/Possession of Controlled Substance and Maintaining a Common Nuisance; 43-year-old Priness Wells  was also arrested for Visiting a Common Nuisance; 53-year-old Vincent Martin was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia and Maintaining a Common Nuisance; 58-year-old Jeffery Ayers was also arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Cocaine and Visiting a Common Nuisance; and 68-year-old Marilyn Henry was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Syringe, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Paraphernalia.  

IMPD Downtown District Commander Phillip Burton stated: 
This is just another example of the Excellent work by the Downtown Nartotics Unit.  This particular Win is a continuation of some investigative work initiated around Wheeler’s Mission. However, this team maintained a high level of collaboration and communication with the other Districts and Units in an effort to reduce the distribution of narcotics and other crimes by securing warrants for individuals known to have criminal intentions and possibly be in possession of drugs and illegal firearms.
