Wilmington Police arrest two New Castle residents caught with stolen packages

Wilmington Police have arrested a man and woman, both from New Castle, in connection with package thefts.
 
On April 8 at approximately 4:10 p.m., police responded to the area of Shallcross Avenue and North Jackson Street in reference to suspicious persons believed to be stealing packages from residences in the area. Arriving units located two suspects wearing clothing that matched the description provided to dispatchers.
 
Police found 32-year-old Unique Moore to be in possession of packages with names and addresses matching residents in the 1400 block of North Harrison Street, as well as other items.
 
The other suspect, 30-year-old Rashawn Perkins, was in possession of a switchblade pocketknife.
 
Moore was charged with theft under $1,500 and arraigned on that charge as well as several charges for which she had active warrants, and was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.
 
Perkins was charged with theft under $1,500 and possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, and was arraigned on those charges as well as active warrants. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.
 
Chief Robert J. Tracy applauded the work of officers in locating and charging these two individuals, and thanked the public for reporting this incident.
 
“We appreciate the assistance of the public in reporting these two individuals,” said Chief Tracy. “We continue to encourage the reporting of suspicious activity to police.”
