Avoid the Area: Gas Leak in the 1200 Block of Los Angeles Ave., Emergency Units on Scene

Ventura County Fire Department, Southern California Gas Company, and Simi Valley Police Department personnel are on scene of a high-pressure gas line rupture in the area. Approximately 50 workers have been safely evacuated from the businesses on the south side of the street in the 1200 block of Los Angeles Ave. between Patricia Ave. and Williams St. Southern California Gas Company personnel are working on shutting off the gas leak which is estimated to take about an hour.

All eastbound Los Angeles Ave. traffic lanes are shut down in the area and only one westbound lane is open to vehicle traffic.

UPDATE:

All eastbound lanes of Los Angeles Ave. are now open. One westbound lane is open, with the two additional lanes expected to be closed until about 4:00 pm.
