Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security hosted area law enforcement agencies in human trafficking training this week
Monday through this afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations-Charleston hosted training in advanced human trafficking investigations at the Hilton Head Island Sheriff’s Office substation. The training was attended by investigators from multiple area law enforcement agencies and was taught by ERASE Child Trafficking.
As labor and sex trafficking are believed to be the fastest growing facet of organized crime, this training better prepared area law enforcement to identify, investigate and build prosecutable cases involving human trafficking. And as human trafficking knows no jurisdictional boundaries, this training provided a foundation of inter-agency familiarity from which these investigators can draw upon to more efficiently work human trafficking cases together.
The training was attended by investigators from the following agencies: the Beaufort, Jasper and Dillon county sheriff’s offices and the Chatham County, Savannah, Tybee Island, Hardeeville and Myrtle Beach police departments. We appreciate your partnership and continued commitment to the safety of our community.
