Lawrence Township News for the Upcoming Week
Emergency Road Closure
Please be advised that due to deteriorated structural conditions, Mercer County has deemed it necessary to close the Alexander Street Bridge over Stony Brook on a 24/7 basis to ALL traffic until emergency repairs are completed. This will cause considerable traffic congestion through Lawrence Township. A detour will be posted directing motorists to use US Route 1, Washington Road and Faculty Road. Emergency repairs will commence on Tuesday, April 9. It is anticipated that the work will be completed within 10 working days, weather permitting. Once the repairs are complete, the bridge will be re-open to vehicular traffic but will be weight restricted to 20 tons as it is currently.
