K-9 team locates 1/4 pound of methamphetamine and 1/2 ounce of cocaine during traffic stop.
On Monday April 8, 2019 a Fairfield Police Department K-9 unit conducted a traffic enforcement stop near Dover Avenue and Cement Hill Road. The driver was stopped for several traffic violations, one of which included driving at a speed unsafe for conditions.
The officer noticed the driver, Cirilo Rivera a 27 year old male Fairfield resident, appeared to be removing items from his pockets and attempting to conceal them while the officer was walking up to the vehicle. While speaking with the driver the officer learned the driver had a methamphetamine pipe in his vehicle. The officer utilized their narcotic detection trained K-9 to do a "sniff" of the exterior and interior of the vehicle.
The K-9 team located approximately 1/4 pound of methamphetamine, 1/2 ounce of cocaine, packaging material, counterfeit currency, two replica firearms, and a scale.
Rivera was booked at Solano County Jail for numerous felony charges.
This is another example that a "routine" traffic stop for a traffic violation is rarely just "routine".
