The Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit has been called to the scene of a major traffic accident in the southbound lanes of I-27 under the 34th Avenue overpass. One person has been transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The Southbound lanes are completely closed to through traffic at this time and will remain that way for the next couple of hours. Please avoid the area or expect delays while the investigation is ongoing. More information will be provided when it is available.
