INCIDENT: Robbery, Conspiring to Commit a Crime

LOCATION: Auto Zone, 14675 Palmdale Rd, Victorville

SUSPECT(S): Marquez Donell Assabore, 29-year old Chino resident
Gonzalo Eduardo Lara, 22-year old Victorville resident

SUMMARY:
On February 11, 2019, a black male entered Auto Zone on Palmdale Road, wearing a bandana over his face, gloves, and dark clothing. He brandished a handgun and ordered a female employee to the ground and a male employee to give him money from the store’s safe and cash registers. After obtaining the money the suspect fled the store.

Through investigation, Detectives learned the suspect was an Auto Zone employee and had conspired with another employee to commit the robbery. The second suspect, a manager at the store, was the male employee working the night of the robbery. The suspects were identified as 29-year old, Marquez Donell Assabore, and 22-year old, Gonzalo Eduardo Lara. During the investigation, four stolen firearms were recovered, one of which was determined to be the handgun used in the robbery.

On March 21, 2019, Assabore was arrested near his Chino home and booked at West Valley Detention Center for robbery and conspiring to commit a crime. On April 2, 2019, Lara was arrested in Victorville and booked at High Desert Detention Center for robbery and conspiring to commit a crime.
