*4th Update – ARRESTS MADE* #LASD Homicide Advises Arrests Made in Death Investigation, Victoria St, #Compton

Homicide Detectives continue their investigation into the homicide of 15 year-old Samantha Bustos.  The body of Victim Bustos was discovered in the bushes on the 500 Block of West Victoria Street in the city of Compton on March 25, 2019, at 1:26 A.M.

The autopsy revealed that Samantha Bustos was the victim of a homicide and suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso.  Over the past week, Detectives received leads from various sources and conducted investigative follow up and interviews to establish the circumstance surrounding the child’s death.

On March 30, 2019, detectives detained a 15 year-old male Hispanic, who was present at the time of the homicide and involved in the events following the death of Victim Bustos.  Detectives interviewed the subject, confirmed his involvement in the incident, and subsequently booked him for murder.

On April 2, 2019, detectives received information regarding an additional subject (15 year-old male Hispanic), and responded to his residence (1200 Block of South Central Avenue, Compton) in order to detain him.

When the subject became aware of the deputies presence, he fled from the location and was located on an adjacent rooftop.  A short time later, the subject surrendered and was detained without further incident or injury.

During questioning, the subject implicated himself in the shooting death of Victim Bustos and was subsequently booked for murder.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and will present the case to the District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
