As California poppies bloom throughout the Antelope Valley,we remind visitors, please don’t doom the bloom!

The California Poppy blooms from February to September. Did you know that the petals close at night, or in cold weather, then open again in the morning?

The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve has these beautiful flowers covering all 1,745 acres of the reserve.

This amazing view is something we all want to enjoy today and for seasons to come!

Our friends at the Poppy Reserve remind you to please stay on the trails. Two things happen when visitors step off the trails:

1. The flowers that are stepped on often die,  and are not able to reseed for future seasons.

2. The soil gets compacted and plants cannot reseed or regrow.

Please don’t doom the bloom! Don’t trample the flowers, tread lightly in the desert and stay on designated trails. Obey all traffic and parking signs and always watch out for snakes.

Let’s show all of California how wonderful the Antelope Valley is!
