Advisory

Caltrans to close Topanga Canyon both directions for slope repair Fri 3/29, 10PM - Mon 4/1, 5AM. Detour through Malibu Cyn / Las Virgenes

Caltrans will close all lanes of Topanga Canyon for slope repair work Friday, March 29, 10:00 PM - Monday, April 1, 5:00 AM. A detour is routed through Malibu Canyon and Las Virgenes Road.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) today announced a 55-hour full closure of Topanga Canyon Blvd. (State Route 27) between Malibu and Topanga this weekend for emergency repair and restoration to an eroded slope embankment along Topanga Creek. The hillside had multiple rock and debris slides onto Topanga Canyon Blvd. this year, triggering full closures of the highway for days.

On Friday, March 29 at 10 p.m. until Monday, April 1, at 5 a.m., the following closure will be in place: Topanga Canyon Blvd. between Pacific Coast Highway (State Route 1) and Grand View Dr.

All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

Signs will be advising motorists to use US-101, Las Virgenes Road, and Malibu Canyon Road as an alternate route. Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes or avoid the area. The town of Topanga will remain open to motorists.

Drivers can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/.

Caltrans reminds drivers to be “Work Zone Alert” and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
