On Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at approximately 10:24 pm, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the report of a traffic collision that had occurred at Foothill Blvd and Hellman Avenue. Deputies were advised by witnesses that the suspect, later identified as Miguel Mendoza, was observed driving eastbound on Foothill Blvd from the City of Upland, entering the City of Rancho Cucamonga. Witnesses observed Mendoza weaving in and out of traffic and running red lights repeatedly. As Mendoza approached Hellman Ave. he ran the red light, striking the victim, Alanna Abbott, who was making a left turn on a green arrow onto southbound Hellman Ave. After the vehicles came to rest, Mendoza got out of his vehicle and ran from the scene, failing to check on Abbott's condition or injuries.
