Over the past few months, the Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of armed robberies linked to www. skipthegames. com, a sex for money—prostitution—website. Sheriff’s Office investigators have been contacted by or have made contact with five men, who acknowledged offering money for sex with women advertised on that site. In the incidents, either the man would travel to meet the woman at a makeshift brothel or the woman would travel to meet the man. The men reported that after they met with the woman, she would leave the room “to get more comfortable” or offer a similar excuse and, almost immediately, one or two armed men would enter the room and rob them of their wallets, cash and mobile telephones. Fortunately, none of the men reported being injured during the robberies.

The cases are under investigation and, as investigators continue to evaluate records and other evidence, other men who have used www. skipthegames. com or other sex for money websites may be contacted. Anyone, who may have been robbed in a similar scenario and has not filed a report, is encouraged to call Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 843-524-2777.   
  Not only is it ill-advised to engage in sex for money because it is illegal, it increases the risk of becoming a victim of violent and other types of crimes. The Sheriff's Office strongly urges Beaufort County residents and guests to avoid sex for money websites.
