Advisory

Suspect arrested for sexual assault crimes yesterday.

On 03/28/19, an EPD officer was flagged down by an 18 year old female who advised him she had been raped the previous evening while staying at a local hotel. Officers quickly got the victim medical attention and began an investigation.

The suspect, Dewayne Crossman, a 55 year old Novato resident, was located at the scene of the assault. Officers arrested Crossman and he was booked at the Alameda County Jail at Santa Rita for numerous offenses, including rape and other sexual battery charges.

The Emeryville Police Department and its staff investigate all reports of sexual battery with a high degree of importance. This type of crime not only impacts those who are assaulted but goes against the morals and ethics our community expects. We hope this reminder puts those who commit sexual battery crime on notice. This type of offense will not be tolerated and we will fully investigate any report of a sexual assault crime that occurs in our community.
