INCIDENT: Strong Arm Robbery, Vehicle Theft, Commercial Burglary
LOCATION: 12800 block of California (residence)
12500 block of California (Hal's Liquor)
SUSPECT(S): Emiliano Javier Hernandez, 47 year-old resident of Yucaipa
VICTIM(S): Victim #1, 61 year-old female, resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On March 27, 2019, at 2:16 p.m., deputies from the Yucaipa Sheriff's Station responded to the 12800 block of California Street in Yucaipa following the report of an unwanted subject at a residence.
When deputies arrived, they determined the suspect (identified as Emiliano Hernandez), was involved in an argument with his girlfriend (Victim #1). He became enraged and forcibly removed her car keys from her person, causing injury. He fled, taking her vehicle without permission. It was determined the victim also received injury from a physical altercation with Hernandez two days prior. Hernandez is currently on Post Release Community Supervision for a previous vehicle theft. An arrest warrant was authored and signed by a judge against Hernandez charging robbery and vehicle theft. Deputies initial efforts to locate Hernandez were not successful.
On March 28, 2019 at 3:21 a.m., deputies responded to the 12500 block of California Street following a report of a burglary alarm going off at Hal's Liquor.
When deputies arrived, they found a front glass window kicked out and discovered someone stole a rack full of Lottery tickets from inside. After reviewing video surveillance, deputies recognized Hernandez committing the burglary and loading the rack of stolen lottery tickets into the victim's stolen vehicle. Deputies responded to the residence, located the stolen vehicle and arrested Hernandez inside without incident. The stolen lottery tickets were recovered.
Hernandez was booked into Central Detention Center on multiple felony charges.
