#9PM ROUTINE PROGRAM

#9PM ROUTINE PROGRAM
The Red Oak Police Department is joining other law enforcement agencies in introducing the #9PMRoutine to help deter burglaries from vehicles as well as residential burglaries.

As summer is approaching and the temperatures begin to rise, so will the thefts and burglaries from vehicles. In many cases, the suspects simply enter vehicles that are left unlocked and enter homes through open garage doors.

The #9PMRoutine is being introduced to remind residents to make sure their vehicles, home doors, and garage doors are secured before they go to bed. The Red Oak Police Department will post reminders on our social media platforms every Wednesday and Saturday encouraging residents to participate with the campaign.

However, we strongly encourage our residents to set a nightly alarm on your smart phone or alarm clock to remind them to secure their vehicles and residences along with turning on exterior lighting.

In this video (https://youtu.be/6YcakIHcN7o), Red Oak Police Department Chief Garland Wolf and Detective Matthew Bratcher remind residents as they go through their nightly routine to make sure all of your doors are locked and your valuables have been removed from sight.

Residents are also encouraged to immediately report all suspicious activity to the Red Oak Police Department non-emergency line at 972-775-3333.

So how can you help? By following the 9 PM Routine every night.
You can set an alarm to help remind you to:
- Remove valuables from your vehicle.
- Ensure that vehicle doors and trunks are locked.
- Check that gates to your property & doors to your home are also locked.
- Turn on exterior lights
