Wilmington Police arrest man caught ransacking car
Wilmington Police have arrested a 62-year-old man found by police ransacking a parked vehicle downtown.
On March 23 at approximately 3:08 a.m., a police officer on proactive patrol in the 1200 block of North market Street observed 62-year-old Michael Elam ransacking a parked vehicle there and trying to remove a pair of sneakers from the car.
Elam was arrested and has been charged with burglary (third degree). He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $500 unsecured bail.
The Wilmington Police Department reminds motorists to keep their vehicles secure and leave valuables out of plain sight, and to immediately report any suspicious activity to police.
