INCIDENT: Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Bodily Injury, Hit and Run Causing Death or Injury

LOCATION: Bear Valley Road and Stonegate Drive, Victorville

SUSPECT: William David Jenkins, 20-year old Phelan resident

VICTIM: Nathan Earl Bladh, 35-year old Victorville resident (Deceased)

SUMMARY:
On March 23, 2019, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to a reported hit and run, involving a motorcycle and a Nissan Maxima, near the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Stonegate Drive.

William David Jenkins was traveling west on Bear Valley Road in the number one lane. He merged into the number two lane between a motorcycle and another vehicle. After merging into the other lane, Jenkins rear ended the motorcycle causing the motorcycle’s driver, Nathan Bladh, to lose control and crash. Jenkins did not stop at the scene. According to a witness, he stopped momentarily at the intersection of Bear Valley and Jade before continuing to drive west on Bear Valley Road at a high rate of speed. Jenkins then travelled north on Monte Vista Road at a high rate of speed. Upon nearing Maricopa Road, Jenkins left the roadway and crashed his vehicle.

Bladh suffered major injuries and was flown to a Los Angeles County Trauma Center, where he was listed in serious condition. On March 24, 2019 Bladh succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Jenkins received minor injuries as a result of the crash and refused medical attention at the scene. He was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for driving under the influence, causing bodily injury and hit and run, causing death or injury. The case has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of further charges.
