Please Help BPD Locate this Sexual Battery Suspect

The Berkeley Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted for sexual battery.
 
On February 22nd at 10:28 pm, a male suspect inappropriately touched a woman against her will who was walking on the 1300 block of University Avenue.  Witnesses described the suspect as 20 to 30 years old, 5’6” to 5’8” with a medium build, light facial hair and wearing a black hooded top.

While this type of crime is not a frequent occurrence in Berkeley, please keep these preventative tips in mind when you travel at night.
 

  • Whenever possible, travel with a group and avoid dark or deserted areas.
  • Keep an eye out for any open businesses or groups of others that you can escape to if necessary.
  • Always remain aware of your surroundings.
