Michigan Severe Weather Awareness Week

Michigan officials encourage residents to prepare for the possibility of severe weather this spring and summer. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has proclaimed that "Severe Weather Awareness Week" is scheduled to run through Saturday. A voluntary tornado drill is planned to take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Please take the opportunity to learn more about severe weather warnings, emergency preparedness kits, and creating your own emergency plan.

As previously stated, there will be a voluntary statewide tornado drill. This exercise is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27th, at 1:00 p.m.
As in previous years, we will not be triggering the sirens in our county. There are two specific reasons why we refrain from doing this:
1. We test our sirens monthly (1st Saturday of each month at 1:00 pm).
2. Testing the sirens out of our normal sequence could create unnecessary public confusion.
This is a perfect time however for businesses and organizations to test their individual procedures using whatever EOP (Emergency Operation Plan) they recognize.
