News Release - Palm Springs Police Department
On March 22,2 2019 at approximately 8:11 pm, Palm Springs Police Department Dispatch received a 911 call of a traffic collision in the area of South Palm Canyon Drive and Camino Parocela. Officers arrived on scene and learned that a passenger car sideswiped a motorcycle, then sped away from the scene and collided with a fire hydrant a short distance away. A passenger inside the car suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital by paramedics.
Officers and traffic investigators conducted an investigation into the cause of the collision. As a result, the driver of the car was arrested for suspicion of DUI, hit and run, and a parole violation.
Arrestee: Mark Scott, 31 years old from Palm Springs
Charges: 23153(a) CVC, 20001(a) CVC, 3056 PC
Scott will be transported to the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning where he will be booked on the above charges.
South Palm Canyon Drive, which had been closed between Camino Parocela and Sunny Dunes Road, is now open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
