Suspect Arrested for DUI after Vehicle Flipped onto its Side

On Friday, March 22, 2019, at 10:11pm, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety received a report of an overturned vehicle on Redwood Dr. just north of Commerce Blvd.  The witnesses stated a male had got out of the SUV and was walking away as other subjects were chasing after him.  Rohnert Park Officers were nearby and arrived shortly after and found a Chevy Suburban on its side partially on the roadway and partially in the landscaping along the road.  The Officers located the male driver, 38 year old David Dudley of Santa Rosa, a short distance down the road from the vehicle, as well as several witnesses waiting in the area.  Based on the investigation, it was determined Dudley had been driving the Suburban north on Redwood Dr. when the vehicle suddenly veered to the right going up over the curb and eventually rolling onto the passenger side.  Dudley then climbed out of a broken window and started walking away as the witnesses chased after him.

As Officers spoke with Dudley, they noticed signs of alcohol intoxication and discovered he was on probation for DUI with terms requiring him to have an interlock device installed in his vehicle.  Dudley was evaluated to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol, and he was found to have a .12% BAC.  He also was found to not have an interlock device installed in his vehicle as required.  Dudley was placed under arrest for DUI, driving on a suspended license and without an interlock device, and for violating his probation.  He was transported by Ambulance to a hospital to be checked for any possible injuries, and once Dudley had been cleared by a doctor he was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on the above charges.  The Suburban was flipped back onto its wheels by a tow truck and towed from the scene.
