Update: SWAT situation; 20500 blk Eagle River Road

The adult male suspect has been identified as 52 year old Benjamin Minton.

As the crisis escalated, Minton injured a family member who tried to intervene and take the knife away from him. The injuries were non-life threatening. When he barricaded himself inside a vehicle, Officers moved a patrol car in front of the garage to block Minton from leaving. Minton still attempted to back out and rolled his vehicle on top of a patrol car. He remained barricaded inside the vehicle until he later surrendered to police, was taken into custody, and evaluated by medics for his self-inflicted injuries. No officers were injured.

Minton was charged with Assault III as well as Criminal Mischief for extensive damage to the patrol car. He is being treated for his self-inflicted injuries.

Update 3/22/19 at 7:52 p.m.:
