SWAT Team of The Year 
On Monday, March 18 2019 the Janesville Police Department SWAT Team along with patrol officers, Janesville Fire Department paramedics and MD1 were awarded the Association of SWAT Personnel (ASP), SWAT Team of the Year.
Monday was the start of the Association of SWAT Personnel annual conference in Milwaukee. The award was presented at the Awards Banquet at 1230 AM. 32 members of the police department, fire department, MD1 and family were present at the awards banquet.
The award is from an incident, which occurred on April 3, 2018. Teamwork, selflessness, decision making, courage, bravery and quick action saved the lives of two badly injured women. One woman had been shot multiple times and another had been bludgeoned in the head resulting in severe head trauma.
Another injured male received immediate medical attention for head trauma and the suspect was taken into custody with out incident or further injury to anyone else.
The case is still pending and schedule for jury trial on July 1, 2019
