#008 Brandishing a Firearm
A reporting party’s vehicle was bumped by a man trying to park his vehicle in the parking lot near Fremont Blvd and Mowry Ave.  The reporting party confronted the driver about the incident and he brandished a firearm at the RP then left towards a nearby business.  The 20 year old man was detained and questioned inside the business and advised the firearm was inside his vehicle. The victim positively identified the man as the subject responsible for brandishing the weapon at him.  The suspect was booked on charges of brandishing at the Fremont Jail without incident.  Case handled by Officer Kevin Farmer and FTO R. Smith.

Auto Burglaries
Five reported auto burglaries occurred between approximately 8:00 p.m. – 9:50 p.m. in the Warm Springs area.  The specific locations were the Marina Market (2), 46900 block of Warm Springs Blvd and 46800 (2) block of Warm Springs Blvd.

#037 Felony Hit and Run
Officer Rodarte responded to a report of a collision on Osgood Road, just south of Auto Mall Parkway. A driver advised she was struck by another vehicle. The other involved vehicle stopped at a gas station, but then fled without providing any information. The original driver sustained leg injuries requiring hospital treatment. Traffic Investigator M. Ramsey responded to the area and is conducting a follow up investigation for felony hit and run.

#040 Possession of a Controlled Substance and Suspended License Arrest
Officer Degenstein conducted a traffic stop near the area of Capitol Ave and Paseo Padre Parkway. He contacted the 32 year old driver who was on active to searchable probation. After a subsequent search, the man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended driver’s license for a DUI conviction.

Community Event
Members of the Department were invited to a special Coffee with a Cop event co-hosted by the Deaf Community Counseling Advocacy & Referral Agency at the Family Resource Center.  The event was very well attended and the Chief, Captains and several officers, CSOs and Public Affairs staff attended.

#005 Auto Burglary
A victim called to report their parked vehicle was burglarized by an unknown suspect who drove a green Chrysler 300 in the 3300 block of Mowry Ave.  The victim threw a cinder block through the rear window of the suspect’s vehicle as it fled the area.  A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle near Peralta Blvd and Paseo Padre Pkwy.  The suspect was contacted and arrested.

#002 DUI Arrest
Officer Degenstein conducted a traffic enforcement stop near the police department. Upon further investigation, he evaluated the driver, a 27 year old man for possibly driving while under the influence. A field sobriety test was conducted and the driver was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence.

Community Event
Several members of the Department attended a vigil held at Central Park on Sunday evening for the victims of the New Zealand shooting incidents.

#007 Brandishing of a Knife
A reporting party called dispatch regarding a subject who possibly brandished a knife and was arguing and threatening customers in the 3900 block of Washington Blvd..  Officers located the suspect as he exited the store and he was arrested.

#024 Fatal Hit and Run
At approximately 6:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to an injury collision on Central Ave near Blacow Rd.  Officers arrived to find a head on collision where the driver of one involved vehicle fled on foot.   A male driver was heading eastbound on Central just north of Blacow Rd. when his minivan went over the center median and collided with a Honda Civic traveling westbound. The male driver of the minivan exited his vehicle and fled the scene on foot.  A 70 year old female passenger of the Honda succumbed to her injuries at the scene.  The driver of the Honda sustained non-life threatening injuries.  The first arriving officer attended to the victims and the second arriving officer began to follow the path of where community members were pointing the suspect had just fled.  A man matching the given description was located attempting to hide in the rear yard of a residence on Briarwood Dr.  The 47 year old suspect, Newark resident, showed obvious signs of intoxication.  He was arrested and booked on initial charges of felony hit and run with injury, driving under the influence causing injury or death, probation violation for DUI.  Traffic investigators will present the case to the District Attorney and likely discuss additional charges.  The investigation is ongoing as of this writing.

#026 Battery with Serious Bodily Injury
At 8:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to a fight and injury collision on Mission Blvd, near Nursery Ave.  Several callers reported an argument and fight involving three subjects in the roadway.  Officers arrive and find a large collision scene and a badly beaten male lying on the sidewalk.  The man is unconscious.  He comes to and is transported to a trauma center with visible head injuries.  Officers learn the drivers of two vehicles became involved in a road rage incident.  The two vehicles crash and after stopping, two men (father/son) get of their car and beat the driver of the other vehicle.  A 52 year old adult man and a 21 year old adult man were both arrested and booked at Santa Rita on felony assault charges.
