FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RE: FOUR ARRESTS MADE IN RECORD COCAINE SEIZURE

Investigators with the Jackson Police Department Gang Enforcement Team have arrested 4 people in connection with a large scale drug investigation that began in September 2008. The investigation concluded on December 30, 2009 at approximately 8:15 PM after officers arrested Scotty Morton, Jr., age 39, and William George Kendrick, age 33, on the parking lot of Redbones Restaurant, 584 Carriage House Drive and later searched two residences in Jackson and a third in Brownsville. The arrests came after Morton and Kendrick were involved in the sale of a kilo of cocaine to an undercover officer on the parking lot of the restaurant. The cocaine and two vehicles were seized during the arrests.

Officers then obtained search warrants and searched 113 Blake Street and 124 Edenwood Drive in Jackson at approximately 10:30PM. Scotty Morton, Jr. and Anthony Scott Bogue, age 28, are both residents of 113 Blake Street. Bogue was arrested near the residence when officers executed the search warrant at that location. He was in possession of a small amount of cocaine at the time of his arrest. Officers also seized four firearms, ammunition, cash, drug packaging materials, scales, a money counter, two vehicles and assorted property from the residence.

The Edenwood Drive home is the residence of William Kendrick. At this location officers seized another four individually wrapped kilos of cocaine, another four firearms, ammunition, cash, and drug packaging materials.

A fourth person, Omar E. Acosta, age 32, was also arrested at the Blake Street residence. Acosta resides at 1251 Friendship Road in Brownsville, TN. Officers also conducted a search at his residence and seized approximately $27,000 in cash.

Also assisting in the case were Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, the West Tennessee Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, and Investigators from the Jackson Madison County Metro Narcotics Unit.

As a result of the searches of these residences, Investigators seized 5 kilos of Cocaine, 8 firearms, ammunition, 4 vehicles, drug packaging materials, scales and approximately $60,000 in cash and assets. This could be the largest single cocaine seizure for the Jackson Police Department. Cocaine currently has a street value of about $75 per gram making the street value of this seizure approximately $375,000.

All four men have been charged with Sale and Delivery of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Cocaine) and are currently being held in the jail at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex in lieu of $250,000 bonds each. They are also facing drug trafficking charges in the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.
