Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports his office investigated a single vehicle crash on M-40 just north of Shavehead Lake Rd, Newberg Twp, Cass County, Michigan. This crash occurred on 03-16-2019 at approx. 0230 Hrs. Emergency Personnel arrived on scene and found that a south bound car had crashed on the east side of the road into a farm field after side swiping a telephone pole. The Driver of the vehicle was Kaitlyn Myriah Bailey, 23 Yrs of Grand Rapids, MI. Bailey was transported to Kalamazoo for injuries sustained in the crash. Bailey was wearing a seatbelt at time of incident and alcohol/drugs appear to have been a factor in the crash. The Sheriffs Office was assisted by Newberg Fire/Ambulance and Life Care Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
