BC Emergency Management Release
Brown County Emergency Management, City of Green Bay Emergency Management and Brown County Public Health
Due to the recent rainfall and melting of the snow, Brown County has experienced severe flooding. As a result, neighborhoods within an 8-block radius along the East River have been evacuated due to flooding. The water has caused several roads to be inaccessible. We are advising the community that these areas are unsafe and recommend that you follow the below safety tips:
• Do not drive around barricades or through standing water.
• Look for alternate routes of travel.
• Evacuate your home if the water is approaching or your basement is flooding. If you have water in your house, our first priority is your safety.
• If water is touching the electrical box and/or furnace, please contact your utility company or 911 if there is an emergency. Stay out of wet areas.
• If you have been evacuated from your home we advise you await emergency management’s decision to re-enter.
• Water near or around bridges will cause the bridges to be closed for a period of time. If a bridge is closed due to high water, this closure includes pedestrian traffic.
• Public Health recommends that you discard any food or drink that came in contact with flood waters.
• Do not wade or play in flood waters as they may be contaminated. If you come in contact with flood waters, wash thoroughly with soap and warm water.
• Keep pets out of flood waters. If you handle a pet that has been exposed to flood waters, wash thoroughly with soap and warm water.
Brown County and Green Bay Emergency Management continue to monitor the situation. We will continue to provide updates.
