At 1010 AM CDT, A National Weather Service Employee reported water now over highway 16 near Hokah. Many other areas are also experiencing high water levels and some road closures. The La Crosse River was also out of it's banks in the La Crosse area. Many secondary roads are also being impacted by high water. Stay away from flood waters. Never attempt to drive through flood waters of any depth. Some locations that will experience flooding include... La Crosse, Austin, Platteville, Sparta, Tomah, Decorah, Charles City, Oelwein, Prairie Du Chien, Richland Center, La Crescent, Mauston, Viroqua, Waukon, Lancaster, Cresco, Osage, New Hampton, Caledonia and West Union.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will also cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. Turn around don't drown!
