McDowell County sheriff’s deputies need the public’s help locating a sex offender who has been on the run from the law for more than a year.
                The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office has charged 59-year-old Robert Evans Cunningham Jr., whose last known address was Clear Creek Road in Marion, with a felony sex offender registry violation (failure to report new address).
                Investigation shows that Cunningham left his Clear Creek Road residence on Oct. 31, 2017, and has not registered a new address, which the law requires within three business days of the move.
                Cunningham was convicted of two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child in McDowell County on June 30, 1994. He was sentenced to eight years in prison, was released on May 3, 1999 and registered as a sex offender on May 10, 1999.
