THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE COLORADO AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER. Avalanche Warning for the North San Juan Mountains.

* TIMING...Beginning 6:00 AM, Thursday March 14. Expires at 6:00 AM Friday March 15.

* AFFECTED AREA... San Juan Mountains...San Miguel Mountains...Rico Mountains...Uncompahgre Plateau and Dallas Divide...La Garita Mountains

* AVALANCHE DANGER...Very dangerous avalanche conditions exist. The avalanche danger is HIGH (Level 4 of 5). Very large avalanches are likely, and some will run naturally

* REASON... Intense recent snowfall and strong winds made for very dangerous avalanche conditions. Large and destructive avalanches are likely.

* AFFECTED AREAS: UNCOMPAHGRE PLATEAU/DALLAS DIVIDE ... NORTHWESTERN SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS ... LA GARITA MOUNTAINS ABOVE 10000 FT ... SOUTHWEST SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS
