Alert community members’ call to 911 results in three arrests for residential burglary.

On Monday, March 11, 2019, at approximately 10:20 a.m. an alert community member contacted the Fremont Police Dispatch center and reported a possible in-progress residential burglary.  The reporting party advised that they had witnessed a person wearing a red hoody climbing over the fence of their neighbors’ house in the 5200 block of Eggers Dr.  They also reported that there was a dark colored vehicle in front of the house and they knew their neighbor wasn’t home at the time.    Multiple officers were immediately dispatched to the call.

When the first arriving officers got to the scene, they found a dark blue colored Audi sedan with no front plate parked in front of the residence.  As officers began to approach, they could see two people inside the vehicle.  The Audi slowly began to drive away and officers ordered the vehicle to stop.  A high risk traffic stop was conducted and two adult male occupants were taken into custody.

As officers were detaining the two men inside the Audi, a community member pulled up to the location and advised that a male subject was just seen running west of Farwell Dr.  Several additional community members began calling our dispatch center with similar information, reporting that the male was either running and/or jumping fences in the area.  Based on the information reported from community members, officers set up a perimeter and expanded the search area.  Eventually a male juvenile suspect was located on the rooftop of a residence in the 5000 block of Brophy Drive and taken into custody.

Captain Fred Bobbitt stated, “We are extremely appreciative of our alert community members who assisted in the arrest of these prolific offenders.  This is a perfect example of neighbors looking out for one another and identifying unusual activity in their neighborhood.  The quick action and multiple callers helped to successfully apprehend these suspects before they could cause more harm to our community.”

As a safety precaution, the shelter in place protocol was initiated at Mattos Elementary School during the incident.

The suspects were all arrested and Detectives are currently conducting follow-up to determine if they are connected to other recent crimes in our City.
