Deputies arrest John Frederick Aldridge of Rancho Cucamonga for failure to register as a sex offender

DATE: March 7, 2019

INCIDENT: PC 290 – Failure to Register as a Sex Offender

LOCATION: 5500 Block Vinmar Avenue, City of Rancho Cucamonga

SUSPECT: John Fredrick Aldridge, 48-years-old from Rancho Cucamonga

SUMMARY:
In 1988, John Aldridge was convicted of various sexual acts against an adult victim and served time in the California Youth Authority. As a result of those convictions, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.

Aldridge registered in 1997 as living at a residence in the 5500 Block of Vinmar Avenue. Since then, his whereabouts went unknown and he failed to register for several years. In 2000, law enforcement learned that Aldridge was living in Washington. Aldridge later moved back to California and never updated his registration.

On February 25, 2019, officers from the California Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. Aldridge was contacted as the driver of the vehicle. Officers learned he was a convicted sex offender, out of compliance with his registration terms, and was currently living in Rancho Cucamonga. CHP officers arrested Aldridge for PC 290 and booked him into the county jail.

The CHP contacted detectives from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department to assist with the PC 290 investigation. On February 26, 2019, Aldridge posted a $50,000 bail bond and was released from custody. After his release from custody, Aldridge again failed to register his home address as required.

Through investigation, detectives learned that during the past few years, Aldridge has volunteered as a coach for various youth sporting programs, to include football teams in Fontana and Rancho Cucamonga. He currently volunteers at a youth sporting clinic in Upland.

On March 7, 2019, detectives served a search warrant at Aldridge’s residence and located evidence to establish his residency for the past few years. As a result of his failure to register, he was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center where he is being held on $100,000 bail. He will be arraigned in Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court on March 11, 2019.

Detectives are releasing the booking photo of Aldridge in case anyone has been victimized by him.
