Duarte Crime Report for the week of February 17 thru February 23, 2019  

Dear Duarte Community;

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of February 17 thru February 23, 2019

 
February 17, 2019

  • A Grand Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target). Loss Prevention Officers noticed electronics missing from a display.  After reviewing video surveillance, they saw that an adult male taking items from the display and placing them in a shopping cart.  The male then concealed the items in a large bag and exited the store through the rear emergency doors.  The loss was estimated at $1,502.       
February 18, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:  At approximately 10:15 pm, deputies responded to the “7-Eleven” located at 2705 Huntington Drive regarding a male slumped over the wheel in the parking lot.  Upon arrival, deputies found an adult male slumped over the wheel.  After further investigation, deputies found suspected Methamphetamine and Cocaine inside the vehicle as well as narcotic paraphernalia.  The male was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia.         
February 19, 2019
  • A Petty Theft was reported in the 2100 block of Maynard Avenue. Sometime between 3:00 pm February 18thand 10:00 am the 19th, persons unknown stole two propane tanks from the victim’s RV which was parked in the driveway.  
  • Narcotics Arrest: Deputies were patrolling the area of Park Rose Avenue and Newington Street when they observed a traffic violation. When they contacted the driver, he stated he did not have a driver’s license.  As the driver stepped out of the vehicle, deputies saw two clear baggies containing suspected Methamphetamine on the driver’s seat. After further investigation, the male was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sales.  A female passenger was also arrested on an outstanding shoplifting warrant. 
February 20, 2019
  • Narcotic Arrest:  While patrolling the “Best Buy” parking lot, deputies conducted a traffic stop of a bicyclist for a traffic violation.  Upon contacting the male bicyclist, he stated he had a little dope on him.  After further investigation, the male was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested.    
February 21, 2019
  • A Residential Burglary was reported in the 3400 block of Brookridge Road.  Between 10:00 pm on February 16thand 8:00 am on the 17th, person’s unknown stole approximately $7,300 worth of tools from the garage.  There was no evidence of forced entry.    
February 22, 2019
  • No significant activity. 
February 23, 2019
  • A Residential Burglary was reported in the 2000 block of Windsor Circle.  Sometime between 11:30 am and 2:00 pm on February 17th, person’s unknown stole a laptop and two electronic tablets from the residence.  The victim’s purse, with her house keys inside, had been stolen earlier in the day in the city of Glendora.  Due to the fact there appeared to be no signs of forced entry, it is believed the suspect(s) who stole the purse committed the burglary using the house keys to make entry.  The loss was estimated at approximately $1,500.  
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target). Store security observed an adult male concealing merchandise on his person.  The male was detained by security after exiting the store without paying for the concealed items.  After further investigation by responding deputies, the male was arrested for Petty Theft.  The $76 in stolen merchandise was returned to the store.  
  • An Attempt Grand Theft was reported at 1243 Huntington Drive (AT&T Store).  Two adult males entered the store and attempted to remove the security sensors from several I-Phone-10, however, they were unsuccessful.  When they were approached by an employee, the males asked for the employee’s phone, but he did not relinquish it and the males fled on foot. The phones the males attempted to steal had a value of $1,500 each.
