Investigators from the Specialized Inv. Div. are conducting a death investigation at the West Valley Detention Center

INCIDENT:      Death Investigation
 
LOCATION:    West Valley Detention Center, Rancho Cucamonga
  
VICTIM:         Perla Alvarado, age 50 a resident of
 
SUMMARY:   
 
On Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at approximately 1:10 am, deputies entered the cell of the victim, Perla Alvarado, to clean it.  Deputies believed that Alvarado was asleep, however, noticed that she was unresponsive and cold to the touch.  Medical staff arrived and rendered life-saving measures; however, she was pronounced deceased. Alvarado was housed in a one-person cell.  
 
Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators responded to the detention center to conduct the investigation.
 
 Perla Alvarado was arrested on February 27, 2019, for PC368(B)(1) Elder Abuse.
 
An autopsy will be conducted by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
