Update on Terrace Middle School fire incident
Today, March 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. a fire occurred in a bathroom at Terrace Middle School causing the alarm to sound. TMS staff and students followed evacuation protocols and safely evacuated away from buildings and smoke. The Lakeport Police Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to secure the area as Lakeport Fire Protection District responded and extinguished the fire.
Lakeport Fire Protection District began a cause and origin investigation and determined that the fire was intentionally set. The Lakeport Police Department and Lakeport Fire Protection District will continue to work together in this ongoing criminal investigation. Witnesses are encouraged to come forward and report information to the Terrace Middle School’s administration, School Resource Officer, Victor Rico or share information anonymously using the district’s Report It App. Lake County Sheriff’sOffice, Lakeport Police Department and Lakeport Unified School District have combined resources to offer a $300 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
